Here we go…

Hello, Internet!

You can’t see me, but I’m waving at you right now. I guess introductions are in order, yes?

I’m Nia. I’m 17 years old, and I really like to bake.

I don’t know when it happened exactly, but at some point not too long ago I decided that baking was something I was very interested in. I mean, I’ve always been into food and cooking. I have fond memories of hanging out in the kitchen with my mom, watching her make dinner and maybe even cleaning the ends off of string beans. During the holidays I’d get to help cut out cookies and decorate them with sprinkles, but honestly, I was much more interested in the whole eating part of cooking.

But then one day, it clicked. I don’t know how, but more and more I wanted to bake. I craved the act of scooping cookie dough or frosting cupcakes. Whipping egg whites just made sense. I think there is something comforting about baking. There is stability to it. Creaming butter and sugar is creaming butter and sugar. There is nothing more to it. And when you beat the two together, you are undoubtedly going to make something delicious. Kneading bread or rolling out pie dough has a comforting feeling, a muscle memory of sorts.

With all of that in mind (and sorry for my gushing, guys), this blog is just a place where I can share my love of baking with you. And maybe even convince you to love baking, too.

So keep your eyes out for new posts! I’m really excited about this.
