When did it get to be fall?
One minute school is starting back up, and the next the leaves are changing and I am going apple picking and wearing sweaters (and writing about a gazillion essays, but whatever).
I think my caffeine consumption goes up by 50% during the school year.
I mean, I always drink a lot of coffee, and I always have. I remember sneaking sips of my mom’s ice coffee when she would pick me up from elementary school. I bonded with my best friend, at the time a stranger, over coffee and crosswords in our high school cafeteria. I give myself the luxury of a few quiet moments with a hot cup of coffee every morning.
I am writing this sitting on the floor of my friends’ dorm room, about to start my junior year of college tomorrow.
My mom comes home with ears of corn and plastic bags of fresh fruit in her pocketbook.
In the summer, it seems like my mom can’t leave the house without stopping at a farmer’s market or a farm stand. I understand– these late August days produce the most temping fruits and vegetables.
